Description
Ofloxacin is a
fluoroquinolone antibacterial inhibits DNA gyrase which is responsible for the
replication of bacteria.
Indications
Bofox Eye Drops is indicated for the
treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, pre & post operatively.
Dosage
In mild to moderate infections: Instil one or two drops into the affected
eye(s) every 4 hours.
In severe infections: Instil 2 drops into the eye(s) hourly until improvement
is obtained following which treatment should be reduced.
Contraindications
Bofox is Contraindicated in patients
with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drugs.
Special precautions
As with any anti infective prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non
susceptible bacteria, including fungi. If super infection occurs and clinical
improvement is not noticed in 7 days, the use of bofox must be discontinued and
appropriate alternative therapy initiated.
Nursing mothers
It is not known whether Bofox is
excreted in human milk following topical administration, because of the
potential of serious adverse reactions from Bofox in nursing infants, a
decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the
drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
Adverse effects
Transient ocular burning or discomfort, stinging , redness may occur.
Storage
Store in a cool dry place. Protect from light.

Bofox eye drops is available in sterile
plastic bottle of 5 ml.
